One of my friends had this problem and he called me while I was on the road. The problem was his monitor went black after about 10 minutes of not using his computer. I asked if any screen saver was on but he told there wasn’t any screen saver on. I then thought it must be power management settings and asked him to change the settings and it worked for him. Windows has a power management setting that has the option to shut the monitor off after a specified amount of time. Sometimes a small things can make a big problem. A small tweak for me can sometimes be a big problem for another.
Below is the process for making your computer not turn black after 10 minutes of not using computer
- Click “Start” button
- Go to “Control Panel”
- Go to “Performance and Maintenance” option (Move on to the Power Management option if you have classic view of your Control Panel)
- Then, open the “Power Management”
(Alternative way might be right clicking in the empty space of the desktop and click Properties, Screen Saver, Power) - Check “Turn off monitor” drop box.
- Select “Never” if you want to your monitor to be turned on forever.
- You can also select the amount of time (1 min-5 hours range listed) you want the computer to wait before shutting off the monitor.
