I install and uninstall lots of programs daily. Mostly I am always testing the new softwares available and if it is not beneficial then I would just simply uninstall it and get rid of it. My tip for proper and safe uninstall would be to go to the control panel and uninstall it via Add or Remove Programs. Many programs do have uninstaller when you install them, but sometimes the uninstaller would not properly uninstall the program and lots of files would be undeleted. My most concern was viewing that unwanted list available in Add or Remove Programs section. Even with the proper uninstall sometimes the list will stay there. We can find lots of programs with which we can clean the registry and other unwanted files but if you are not an advanced user, I recommend not to use those softwares as in the process of deletion you might accidentally delete the necessary files too. In that case my discovery of this registry hack will most definitely help you. Below is the process for the removal of the unwanted list in Add or Remove Programs after uninstall.

  • Go to Start -> Run
  • Type ‘regedit’ (regedit = Registry Editor)
  • Navigate to:‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion’
  • Delete the software name that is here which you removed
  • Exit registry
  • Now go back to the control panel and Add or Remove Programs. You will see that the list is updated and you will no longer find the unwanted list there.

I haven’t tried this in Windows Vista myself but my friend was saying it works fine in Windows Vista as well. For now I am using this technique in Windows, and it works so fine.
