I had been wondering what my cell phone has got extra in it and if there are any optional unused keys that can be functional and useful. Then my eyes caught up at the pencil icon button. I quickly noticed the simple usage of the button.

When I pressed it in the writing mode, the following menu was introduced:

  • Dictionary on
  • Number mode
  • Paste
  • Insert symbol
  • Writing language

I could understand all the options except Paste option. Dictionary on means turning on the dictionary that is in the cell phone. Number mode would activate the number mode and the keypad would only type in numbers. Insert symbol means pasting the symbols. Writing language means changing the language. My cell phone Nokia 3230 would three languages: Deutsch, English, and Italiano.

My Problem:
I just was wondering, what would paste option do and where shall I copy the details?

My Discovery and Solution:
I just pressed the pencil button and I used the scroll button. My discovery was I was able to select the text and while I select the text, I could see “Copy” option appearing on the left side of the display screen. On the right side there was “Paste” option. These options would soon disappear after you unhold the pencil button. So now holding the pencil button, we can simply select the text and holding it, you can “Copy” the text and after that you can simply paste it holding the same pencil button and then pressing “Paste”.

  2. Scroll to left or right holding Pencil button- Selects texts or words
  3. Scroll to up or down holding Pencil button- Selects rows.
  4. Unhold or release the Pencil button - Releases the scroll mode.
  5. To copy the text, hold the Pencil button, and select “Copy” on the left side.
  6. To paste the text to another document or the same page, hold the Pencil button, and select “Paste” on the right.
